"... creative and relevant rock and roll... "Dusty Shack” is one of the better independently released tracks that I have heard this year... a Joan Jett feel, but with better intonation and more range and adaptability.... brilliant in its meshing of guitar and voice... it just rocks." - David Bowling, The Daily Vault

  BIOGRAPHY
Rebel Red play roots rock which inspires people to dance and have a good time. Characterized by funky southern rhythms and sometimes referred to as "Swamp Rock". Party-oriented music with a toe tappin' backbeat..

"Born in New York City and raised in England, singer-songwriter Rebel Red had worked with the late producer Steve Burgh of Kingston before taking some time off to raise two boys. She then returned with "Sex Religion Politics".

The underlying feel of the music in the album is of a party anthem - and of summer open-air. Powered by some wicked slide guitar from Jeff Pevar and Red's sassy voice, lead off track "Dusty Shack" recalls Tommy James and the Shondells for sheer fun, danceabilty and sing-along potential.
As title implies, the album goes from sex (the retro honky-tonk piano driving "Let's Go Home") to religion ("Pray") to politics (the anti-war "Body Count"). An ominous Tony Levin-esque bass line prods "Sittin' Purty," while the swampy "Lazy Rollin' River" has not-so-latent Creedence qualities, and give Red a place to stretch and bend phrases to their limit.
Often, Red conveys the vocal equivalent of finger-pointing in your chest, and other times she's trying to coax you in. But all the time is pure pleasure." - David Malachowski , The Kingston Daily Freeman
